USGS/EROS eMODIS Status Report **UPDATE NOTICE 10/12/2011** On November 1, 2011, USGS/EROS will: 1) REMOVE FTP ACCESS for eMODIS COMPOSITE PRODUCTS 2) IMPLEMENT PRODUCT FILE NAME CHANGES USGS FTP REMOVAL NOTE: Data access will be supported through HTTP only starting November 1, 2011: http:/dds.cr.usgs.gov/emodis/ A U.S. Department of Interior/USGS security policy calls for the elimination of all anonymous FTP service. As a result, USGS/EROS is replacing FTP delivery methods with HTTP capabilities. Through October 2011, USGS/EROS will support tandem access of FTP and HTTP for customers; FTP through emodisftp.cr.usgs.gov and HTTP through dds.cr.usgs.gov. This will provide data users the transition time needed for changing necessary data access modifications in FTP scripting to the new HTTP data distribution server. For replacing command line FTP capabilities in data access and scripting changes, there is an open source function called wget that is supported in several environments, including Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac, OpenVMS, and AmigaOS. For wget information and download instructions, please see the GNU Web site at http://www.gnu.org/software/wget Example of Windows wget for downloading a directory: wget -nd -r http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/emodis/CONUS/historical/TERRA/2011/comp_171 PRODUCT FILE NAME CHANGE A slight change is being made to the product file names, and will include a region identifier.
